The Canadian Flag is a Symbol of our Diversity

By Christine Martel-Fleming

I have always thought Canada has one of the most beautiful flags and is emblematic of the strength of our diversity. The duality of the red and white reminds me of my French-Canadian and Anglo-Canadian ancestry. The maple leaf reminds me of the indigenous territory that we reside on. Finally, the different points on the leaf remind me of how multicultural our country has become over the past 150 years.
